Altos de Marfil

In the center of this region, there is a mountain range called El Limo, which runs from east to west. In the highlands of this mountain range, we are privileged to work with small-scale producers. The co?ee from Altos de Mar?l is grown by these co?ee growers, who have a very long tradition in co?ee production, passing down knowledge from generation to generation. Their practices are traditional, but with the help of the PECA educator, they are learning more about processing and drying to achieve better quality. They grow traditional varieties and, in recent years, have introduced new ones, in smaller quantities, such as the famed Bourbon Sidra. On the farms, it is a family e?ort, with every member helping in co?ee production.

In some cases, the wife oversees the co?ee while the husband works in construction or cattle to earn additional income. An interesting aspect of the farms is that most of the families practice apiculture, which helps with the pollination of the co?ee trees and other plants, providing an extra income as well. In recent years, with the visits of the PECA educator and the advice given, the co?ee producers of Altos de Mar?l have improved in farm management and environmentally friendly practices. They have great potential and a strong desire to improve year by year.
