Sometimes listening is easier than reading, and sometimes discussion is the best way to explore the complexities of a subject and achieve a deeper understanding. We have wanted to start some kind of podcast for a while and decided to focus on origin. As a company, our heart is at origin, and it is all too easy for stories, ideas, and experiences to be lost over the great distances that coffee has to travel.
This podcast came from a desire to share information and perspectives that we believe can reduce the distance perceived between origin and destination. We want to take advantage of our multicultural industry by examining questions and issues from different perspectives.
For our inaugural effort we recorded nine brief accounts of the farmers who produced coffee for our cupping at the SCA event in Boston. The idea was that while you cupped a sample, you could hear a little bit about one of the producers who made this coffee possible. Our first full-length episode will be released soon. We will be talking about Colectivos / brands in Central America, why these are important, and their meaning for producers.
After this you can expect a new episode every month; please get in touch if there is something you are particularly interested in hearing about!
