Caravela Coffee and Four Barrel Coffee will be hosting a cupping of Colombia Rare Varieties and Nicaragua Drying Experiments on Friday, March 20 from 2pm to 5pm at Four Barrel Coffee in San Francisco, CA.
We will be cupping some samples of rare varieties from the coffee garden at Hacienda El Roble, in Santander, Colombia. All the varieties are grown under the exact same conditions on this organic, Rainforest Alliance, and Bird Friendly certified farm. These will be varieties that are not commonly found in the coffee marketplace and this will be an educational cupping to identify differences in quality from varieties.
We will also be cupping 3 samples from Nicaragua. It will be one coffee, dried concurrently 3 different ways: on a cement patio, on a black plastic tarp, and on raised beds with 80% shade. All of these coffees were dried by Virmax Nicaragua at the Beneficio La Estrella drying facility. This will also be an educational cupping to identify differences in quality from drying process.
