Alejandro Cadena is one of the founders of Caravela, a pioneering high quality coffee exporter/importer. In 2002, Caravela revolutionised the coffee industry by developing a unique model of working with small and medium sized producers that would promote quality and sustainability at the farm level. By cupping every single lot delivered by growers, separating by grade and identifying the best lots from the bad and the average, the coffee industry was not only able to find better tasting coffee but also recognize and reward outstanding producers. This practice is still in place today and is now applied by Caravela in other regions in Latin America where Caravela is present.
Alejandro is known for his innovative and creative approach to coffee quality. His passion and knowledge for coffee and its diversity amongst different origins in Latin America is masterful.
Alejandro will be in Australia in March 2016 and will be speaking exclusively at Paramount Coffee Projects in Sydney and Seven Seeds in Melbourne. He will be discussing the subject of Coffee Diversity; specifically, from 4 origins where Caravela has export operations: Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador and Nicaragua.
His talk will be followed by a cupping of four samples from each of the four origins. Alejandro will then lead the question and answer segment of the evening.
This event will be a great educational insight into coffee diversity and why it is so relevant and significant to the industry. Register today to secure your spot.
