El Salvador has suffered through the past few harvests from Roya, a suffering amplified by under-investment in farms. As volumes dwindled, coffee buyers shifted their focus to other parts of Central America. At Caravela, we’ve continued our commitment to small farmers in Metapan and Chalatenango. We are tapping into unique coffee profiles, and establishing new relationships. This year, we’ve started relationships with larger farms in the regions of San Salvador and Santa Ana, without forgetting the strong bonds we have with our small scale growers in the east.
From our headquarters in Metapan, we receive, analyze, purchase, mill, sort, and package these high quality coffees. As the main harvest approaches, we look forward to seeing new producers, and continuing to work with the quality minded farmers of years past.
